Valley of Fire State Park, North of Los Vegas, NV
Here we have some pictures from a trip to the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada.
Peg went to Las Vegas for yet another Summer Symposium and spent a day at this state park. This is high desert with lots of rock outcroppings. The first few pictures display quail pecking at food next to the ranger station at the entrance. As the crow (assuming the crow is not drunk) flies the State Park is 47 miles from Los Vegas (downtown), not too bad for a day trip. If you go take lots of water.
There are lots of petroglyphs and lichen on the rock walls. There is also a small outcropping of petrified wood along the road.
